Tell us more about your brand! When did you launch, where are you headquartered, what moved you to start your business?
“MaskClub was created out of necessity during the beginning of the pandemic. Normally our company, which is based in Detroit, Michigan creates licensed T-shirts and accessories. When the pandemic hit, our sales dropped 60%. My wife pushed me to make face masks and at first I thought it was impossible.”
“Then one day in quarantine on April 7th, my wife came up with the concept for MaskClub, a buy one give one website where for every mask sold, we donate one to first responders. We knew we could help. 4 days later we launched MaskClub.com and it went viral. Millions of website visitors and hundreds of thousands of customers later, here we are.”
What are some of your other favorite tools for increasing conversions?
“Fomo was really important to us. As you can imagine, face masks went from 0 to 100 real quick in the market, but with that comes a lot of bootleg and fakes. It was important our customers knew others were buying our masks, so they knew we were a legitimate company.”
Fomo displays checkout notifications in real time to visitors. Visitors are met with short notifications letting them know that they’re not alone on the site, that there’s great company all around, much like a real store in person.
What kind of problems did you face on your store throughout your experience so far?
“At first it was abandoned carts and low click to check out.”
Abandoned carts are just what they sound like, where someone adds a product to their cart and then leaves the site, while click to checkout is how many people are clicking on products and buying or not buying.
What other strategies did you try in order to address those issues prior to using Fomo?
“We tried changing our design to make it easier to find check out buttons and easier to check out in general.”
Design on storefronts should not be underestimated. Smaller e-commerce stores have to compete with multimillion dollar big box stores and tech giants for customer’s attention.
If the design looks shady, it can decrease trust in the customer. MaskClub has done a great job with their design that established trust and credibility, and Fomo showing other orders only adds to that sense of social proof.

“Great design, easy to use and implement.”
How long have you been using Fomo?
“Almost since the beginning of our store, back in June.”
Have you tried any of our competitors and if so, why did you choose Fomo instead?
“We did not.”
Can you share some of the data that demonstrate how using Fomo has benefited your business?
“12.3M impressions, 20,000 clicks, 35,000 engagements.”
Fomo’s impressions show how many times someone has seen a Fomo notification, the clicks is how many times they clicked through to the product that was shown, and engagements show mouse hovers to pause to read it.
