How Fomo Helped Boost Signups 20%

Rocket Validator launched in August 2016. They’re based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, and they’re focused on building the simplest method to check Accessibility and HTML conformance on large sites.

With a single click, web developers can have a detailed report of A11Y and HTML issues found on up to 5,000 web pages on a site. This would be near impossible to do by hand. Even for a small site with 100 pages, it would take 200 manual checks. Now all this can be automated with their web spider and checker tool.

"Just give us a starting URL, and we'll visit it to discover its internal pages, validate each of them using the latest versions of the W3C Validator and the axe-core accessibility engine, and produce a detailed report in seconds."

Since their launch, their users have validated 1,655,591 web pages, caught 18,351,566 HTML issues and 1,695,667 accessibility violations.

What was a challenge you had to overcome?
"We saw many visits on the site not being converted to user sign-ups, and it looks like these visitors didn't completely understand what our tool is about even when we try to explain it plainly."

What other methods/strategies did you try to address those issues before using Fomo?
"We're active on Twitter and also managed a newsletter for news about web validation, but we think most people are overwhelmed with information and it's hard to grab their attention."

"This part is still needed to drive traffic to the site, but once there, a simple Fomo notification grabs their attention quickly and makes more people interested in signing up."

How do you use Fomo?
"With Fomo we show short, simple snippets like "a web developer has just validated HTML on 1,000 pages", that's a direct explanation anyone can quickly grasp and become interested in trying out."

What other apps do you like?
“We use Olark for communicating with visitors on the page, and solve their doubts in real time, so they can decide if it's worth signing up.”

How did you find Fomo?
"I saw it in action in some other site, don't remember exactly where. It sounded convincing and decided to give it a try."

Have you tried any Fomo competitors?
"No, we haven't."

How are you tracking conversions?
"Using UTM parameters in the URL link."

What results have you had as a result of using Fomo?
"We’ve had a 20% signup increase. We plan to add more events to Fomo and compare how they convert."

Have you tried Fomo Publishers?
"Yes, we're running a campaign currently and still testing it. By now it looks a bit expensive, like $2 per click, but we still need to evaluate it more."
