A few years ago, Katie Burns teamed up with Galina Dolya to provide a high-quality learning at-home program that allows parents to provide their child with the best early years education possible from their own home.
Key To Learning At Home is a program that has roots in the discoveries of Russian psychologist Lev Vygotsky as well as some years later, the discoveries of a university team of prominent developmental psychologists in Moscow that were tasked with finding the secret to 'giftedness.'
Galina, an acknowledged world-leading expert on the practical application of Vygotsky’s theories and with years of classroom and teacher training experience, partnered for many years with Professor Nicolai Veraksa, Olga Diachenko and ten other educationalists and developmental psychologists to develop the innovative Key To Learning approach.
The curriculum they created is famous for creating happy, independent, gifted, and/or highly able learners and is a complete developmental learning program for 2.5- to 6-year-old children.
Katie also had a history of unconventional teaching around the world, particularly in thinking skills, problem-solving tools, accelerated learning techniques, and has a young daughter.
Together, they have made it possible for parents who realize that traditional teaching and learning is rarely the best way to bring out children’s true potential, to have the tools, methods, and ideas necessary to fully develop their child’s learning abilities beyond what other activities and curricula achieve.
Key To Learning At Home provides the curriculum and activities on a flexible, monthly subscription for a fixed duration of time.”
“During the activities, the facilitating adult leads short bursts of structured activity. Sometimes they share their expertise with the child, modeling and mediating mental tools through a developmentally appropriate and engaging activity. At other times, the adult and child collaborate to create something together, through joint activity.”
Tell us about your brand! When did you launch, where are you headquartered, what moved you to start your business?
“Our head office is in the UK. I started this business after using these activities myself and being astounded at how well they work and how much my daughter loved them. Schools only offered the activities at the time, so I took on the project of bringing them to homeschoolers and other parents for use at home.”
What are some of your other favorite apps and tools for increasing conversions?
“Most of this happens over on Facebook in my group for parents, as they see others commenting and sharing about the activities. But people need to try these activities with their child, to see what is so special about them.”
Key To Learning At Home is running their business on WordPress and is using Memberpress, an all in one WordPress membership and subscription plugin.
How are your conversion rates? Are you facing any issues?
“Parents only buy once they have tried the activities with their child, and it has worked well for them. Conversion rates from parents who have taken a trial are very good - about 1 in 5 worldwide or 1 in 3 for the US/UK where the homeschooling communities are well-developed.”
“We offer trials for free, but sometimes people still hold back from giving their info. Having Fomo on our site helps convince people not to hesitate to take a trial. And from the trials come the conversions.”
“The only issue we have is that not everyone who takes out a free trial with us actually uses it or comes back to it to try properly - which is a shame for them.”
What other strategies did you try to address that before using Fomo?
“None specifically for that. I know that if the product is right for people and their children, they will buy a subscription. And of course, if not, that is fine!”
How did you learn about Fomo?
“Extensive internet search!”
Fomo is a real-time notification displaying live data of your choosing. You can connect it to thousands of apps, and we don’t show fake data.
What prompted you to move forward with Fomo?
“The superb and personalised service from the Fomo team to get me up and running with my specific needs. So grateful!”
Have you tried any of our competitors? If so, why did you choose Fomo instead?
“I tried some but couldn’t easily see how they could work for me. Every business is just that bit different.”
How are you tracking Fomo conversions? What have your results been?
“Actually, we're not tracking them. As I said, ours is a more gentle approach in terms of just giving people the confidence to trust us enough to take a trial. After that, the product itself convinces them (if they are a good fit for it, of course).”
“However, this time last year, we were still relatively unknown, and this year, there have been many more trials and purchases as the word spreads. I honestly believe that Fomo is helping build that confidence in people to give it a try, in addition to seeing recommendations for our program in Facebook groups.”
What changes would you like to see made with Fomo?
“I love it just as it is!”
Do you have any advice for other Fomo users?
“Give it a try and if you get stuck, don’t give up on Fomo, just ask for help - they are a brilliant team ;-).”
Any other stats you’re proud of?
“We have been overwhelmed recently due to the COVID-related homeschoolers, on top of the usual demand at this time of year from homeschoolers.”
What is one thing you want customers to take away from your business? What are you truly selling?
“Total peace of mind for parents of young children in terms of their early years' education.”
How long have you been using Fomo?
“6 months.”
